Uganda National Parks, Uganda is one of East Africa’s most diverse safari destinations, with over 10 protected areas managed by the Uganda Wildlife Authority. Its national parks range from the savannah plains of Murchison Falls National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park—famous for game drives, boat cruises, and tree-climbing lions—to the dense rainforests of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Kibale National Park, known for primate tracking experiences. Visitors can enjoy a wide range of activities including chimpanzee trekking, birdwatching (with over 1,000 species recorded), cultural encounters, and scenic landscapes such as waterfalls, crater lakes, and the Rwenzori Mountains.

A major highlight of Uganda’s tourism is gorilla trekking, offered mainly in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. The Uganda Wildlife Authority is responsible for issuing gorilla permits, which allow visitors to spend one hour with a habituated gorilla family under strict conservation guidelines. These permits are limited in number to protect the endangered mountain gorillas, making advance booking essential. Gorilla trekking not only provides a once-in-a-lifetime wildlife experience but also contributes significantly to conservation efforts and supports local communities through tourism revenue.
